Additional Information: Rich Johnson is a corporate attorney and licensed certified public accountant whose practice is focused on business and commercial transactions, including oil and gas law, mergers and acquisitions, real estate law and ad valorem matters, contract drafting and negotiations, corporate and securities, business entity selection and formation, secured lending transactions, and taxation issues. Rich’s oil and gas industry experience includes the representation of exploration, production and midstream energy companies in a broad range of matters, including asset sales and acquisitions, lease negotiations, title opinion review and drafting, and the preparation of joint operating agreements, marketing agreements, equipment leases and other contracts. As part of his day-to-day practice, he also routinely provides state and local tax advice to both businesses and individuals, advises tax-exempt organizations on the requirements for obtaining and maintaining their tax-exempt status, assists individuals and families in all aspects of trust administration, and counsels businesses on a wide range of operational matters. Prior to joining McAfee & Taft, Rich worked as state and local tax accountant for one of the nation’s largest oil and gas companies and as a private practice lawyer focused on estate planning, probate and oil and gas law. While pursuing his graduate degrees, he also gained valuable hands-on tax, legal and oil and gas experience working for a national marketer of petroleum products and a diversified oilfield service company.
